Job Description

Business Development Intern  12 Month Placement - Job Responsibilities

  • Help the UK Region acquire New Clients and Increase Revenue

  • Assist Microchip in selling Additional Products & Services (TSS) to existing clients.

    Carry out the initial qualification via telephone from the Winnersh office.

  • Keep accurate records of conversations and outcomes.

  • Recorded all “Active” engagements centrally starting with a model-N customer profile.

  • Assign leads amongst the Microchip sales team (in consultation with the BDM).

  • Support the UK Sales Team each attain x25 new customer acquisitions with pre-qualified leads & to record all distributions and outcomes.

  • Gather additional leads from external sources with some field based activities in conjunction with the BDM. (Press,Trade Shows, Expos, Industry events etc.)

  • Provide data to allow the BDM to focus on prospects with the highest potential ROI.

  • Sensitive as to which channel to engage clients, OEM BAAN, mD, PWR, Disty etc

  • Promote microchipDIRECT as the channel to engage Microchip, where no legacy exists (Start Ups, New Clients)

  • The BDI should be conversant & adhere to the DATA PROTECTION ACT at all times.

  1. Continuous Improvement and Learning

     

The BDI is expected to be a self-starter and invest time in developing their skill set. This will require the following competencies and experience:-

 

  • A complete understanding of MCEP 2.0 not limited to familiarity of QBS Methodology, Selling to VITO, Challenger Sale, M+H, etc

  • Employing DISC when engaging customers and colleagues.

  • Teamwork Dynamics / Collaboration

  • Time Management

  • Plan – Do – Review

  • Working with Software tools – Excel, Power point, Model-N opportunity tracking database

A training programme will be created to guide & support the BDI through the required competencies framework. Progress will be reviewed during quarterly 121’s with their line manager, whilst regular (1hr) weekly mentoring and coaching sessions will be arranged. The BDI will be encouraged to attend prescribed on-line training courses, the bi-weekly sales & applications calls, UK Team Meetings and Classroom training as required.

 

Job Requirements

Individual studying relevant discipline in a degree and/or Masters in a Business area.
