Engineer Applications, Co-op/Intern

Job Description

The applications co-op/intern will provide technical support for Microchip’s Analog Power and Interface Division (APID) products. This includes working one-on-one with senior level applications engineers on board design, assembly, test, and documentation. Supported product lines include linear regulators, switching regulators, MOSFETs, MOSFET drivers, battery chargers, motor drivers, LED drivers, USB port power switches, etc. Applicant must have excellent communication skills, a willingness to learn, and an interest in power electronics design and control systems. Experience with PIC microcontrollers is a plus, but it is not required.

We are ideally seeking a candidate who can participate in a full-time co-op position over the spring and summer of 2018. Internships from local schools will also be considered during this window of time, but preference will be given to full-time co-ops. Candidates must have a strong understanding of circuits and electronics and be enrolled in a BS or MS program in electrical or computer engineer (or equivalent).

Job Requirements

  • Soldering of prototype evaluation and demonstration boards
  • Testing of evaluation and demonstration boards
  • Design of new evaluation and demonstration boards
  • Firmware and software development, as skills allow
  • Documentation of evaluation/demonstration hardware and software
  • Organization of lab environment
  • Stock and shipping management for evaluation and demonstration boards
