Job Description

Intern – Supply Management Department (Procurement)

Microchip Technology is seeking a Student Intern for the Supply Management/Procurement group. This position will report to a Commodity Manager and is a paid internship.


Job Duties:

Assists with expediting past due and/or open PO's. 

Creates/Enters new suppliers in Baan system. 

Enters changes in Supplier address information weekly

Enters supplier/contractor insurance certifications in the SharePoint database. 

Maintains monthly PO log sheets for Buyers. 

Processes mail/faxes/FedEx shipments when needed. 

Creates Purchase Requisitions as needed for requesters.  

Assists pulling hard copy PO’s when requested by auditors. 

Assists Buyers with any projects pertaining to the department (expedite reports; follow up on POs, etc.).

Archive files annually for off-site storage. 


Job Requirements:

Must be 18 years or older and possess a high school diploma/GED/equivalent. Currently be actively attending college courses in the Supply Chain Management or Business fields.  A minimum of 15-20 hours/week required.


Critical Physical Requirements:

Able to lift 20 lbs; push, pull approx. 50 lbs; carry 20 lbs; sit 60%; stand 20%; walk 20%; must be able to perform activities that include climbing, bending at waist, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, crawling, handling, feeling, hearing, talking, seeing. Work environment could include slippery surfaces, noise or vibrations, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, fumes or odors.
